Galeria Zé dos Bois – The cool attractive culture

An active and proficient cultural center based deep inside the Bairro Alto since the beginning of the nineties (1994). It comprises two buildings with a gallery and concert hall plus a space dedicated to the development and presentation of performance arts where the group Negócio enhances its art. It also has a documentation center and presents an continuous program of concerts, cinema (just had a cycle with the urban tendencies free magazine Parq – CineParq), dance, happenings and exhibitions.
ZDB also owns a record label and organizes artist residencies. Next to ZDB you’ll find the Ler Devagar Bookstore dedicated to arts and contemporary thinking. They also own Eterno Retorno bookstore. I really enjoy the nights in ZDB as they continuously show an excellent program both on music and arts. The cultural flow is just cathartic!
Tip: You can see (and listen to) the bands playing inside the concert hall through large windows, in an thing that people call the aquarium. Galeria Zé dos Bois also has a Myspace page.
