After some presentations in a improvised theatre put together in a second story downtown, the independent theatre company of Cão Solteiro established in the cozy familiar area of Poço dos Negros. It’s just a 5 minutes walk from the Chiado district to the southeast, following the tram tracks that lead to Estrela quarter.
There’s continuous collaboration of Cão Solteiro with several different interesting artists, stage designers and architects – this small and dynamic group of creatives, pumped by state incentives, makes sure for a high standard of quality for every play, making them one of the most interesting theatre companies in Lisbon. Based on profound research on poetry, theatre research and body language, they present a hybrid of contemporaneous silent and gesture theatre, advanced performances and non-theatre plays. A must see extravaganza where you definitely don’t need to worry on understanding what’s said, as the actors body language and the regular silent moments explain everything.
