Teatro Nacional D. Maria II – Drama queen

The Portuguese national theater of Lisbon offers a large and dynamic program for the theater and acting lovers. Most interesting I think is the architecture and stage design subjects. The main room (Sala Garrett – a big portuguese writer and author and first director of the subject of the article) and the smaller room (Sala Estúdio) display constantly the best Portuguese and European productions.
My favorite is the main room as it is a fabulous example of the Italian set theater and it’s just beautiful to be there while a play is being presented. There is also a bookstore dedicated to theater authors and dramaturgy next to the pleasant cafe. It’s situated at the entrance in the left wing of the huge classicist building right in the heart of the city.
